Choose your bench tier, crop, number of planted tiles and available play time.
Hytale Farming & Essence Planner
Enter your real Farmer’s Workbench tier and farm setup to receive a usable recommendation, expected profit and honest minimum–maximum range.
How to use it
- Select your current Farmer’s Workbench tier so unavailable crops are excluded from the recommendation.
- Enter planted tiles and available growth time, then match normal or Eternal Seeds and the modifiers covering the whole field.
- Enable crop conversion only if the harvest will not be kept for food, recipes or upgrades.
- Set your current and target Essence, review the expected result and possible range, then use the upgrade planner for the next tiers.
A farming recommendation based on your real progression
The calculator starts with your Farmer’s Workbench tier, so it only compares crops you can currently plant. It combines field size, available growth time, seed type, water, light, fertilizer and optional crop conversion.
The primary result uses the expected midpoint while the possible minimum and maximum remain visible. Normal Seeds include recurring costs; Eternal Seeds use regrowth timing and no repeated seed cost.
Questions it answers
- How many complete cycles fit in a session
- How much Essence a field can return
- Which unlocked crop performs best
- How long a target may take
- What cumulative materials are needed for workbench upgrades
Keep plans realistic
- Confirm the displayed stable update before relying on exact values.
- Use ranges when planning scarce Essence.
- Do not count incomplete cycles.
- Separate crops reserved for recipes from crops converted to Essence.
- Check workbench requirements in game before consuming rare materials.
Normal Seeds versus Eternal Seeds
Normal Seeds are consumed and must be paid for again after every harvest. The planner therefore subtracts the recurring seed cost from each complete cycle. A crop with a high raw Essence drop can still lose Essence when normal seed costs are included.
Eternal Seeds remain planted and use their regrowth time. Select Eternal only when those seeds are already available to you; otherwise the result overstates your real profit.
How water, light and fertilizer change the plan
The selected Update 5 dataset applies the documented growth multipliers multiplicatively. Water, sufficient light and fertilizer reduce the time per complete cycle, allowing more harvests during the same session.
Only enable conditions that cover the full field consistently. A partially watered or poorly lit farm will perform below the displayed estimate. Incomplete cycles at the end of the selected session are not counted.
How the Essence target estimate works
The main target time uses the expected midpoint of the configured yield range. The detail underneath keeps the optimistic and conservative range visible. When the minimum return is zero or negative, a guaranteed worst-case completion time does not exist, but the expected estimate can still be useful.
If the expected net return is not positive, the planner marks the setup as unsuitable for Essence farming and recommends changing crop, seed type or crop conversion.
Choosing whether to convert crops
Crop conversion can substantially change which option is best, but converted produce cannot also be used for food, recipes or workbench upgrades. Leave conversion disabled when the harvest has another purpose.
The comparison table only includes crops unlocked at your selected Farmer’s Workbench tier. This prevents late-game crops from appearing as recommendations before you can plant them.
Version and data references
The calculator targets stable Update 5. Official patch notes establish the stable game context; exact crop configuration values are maintained in a versioned dataset derived from gameplay asset definitions and must be reviewed after patches.
Frequently asked questions
Why are results shown as ranges?
Crop and Essence yields vary. HyTools preserves the configured minimum and maximum instead of presenting an invented exact average.
Which game version does this support?
The dataset identifies the supported stable Hytale update and verification date at the top of the calculator.
Do modifiers stack?
The current dataset treats confirmed water, light and fertilizer speed multipliers as multiplicative. Recheck the displayed version after game updates.
Why does the recommendation change with my workbench tier?
The comparison deliberately excludes crops above your selected tier. A mathematically strong late-game crop is not useful if you cannot plant it yet.
What does expected profit mean?
It is the midpoint between the configured minimum and maximum result after recurring normal-seed costs and optional crop conversion. The full range remains visible below it.
