📜 Rules Generator

Hytale Server Rules & Moderation Policy Builder

Turn your community profile into a reviewable ruleset instead of a generic wall of text. Choose the policy areas, define enforcement and appeals, add server-specific rules and export versions suited to players, Discord and staff records.

Generated rules are a practical starting point, not legal advice. Review them against current Hytale policies and the laws that apply to your community.

Define the community

Start with the facts that change how rules should be written and enforced.

Choose rule areas

Select only the areas your community actually needs. The generator adapts wording to the server profile.

Add server-specific policy

Use plain language. These fields are included only when filled.

Define enforcement

Choose the actions staff may use. The generated text explains that severity, context and history still matter.

Publishing package

Generate separate versions for the full rules page, Discord and plain text.

How to use it

  • Define the server type, audience, tone, strictness, rules version, support contact and appeal path.
  • Select the rule areas that apply, then add server-specific policies such as economy limits, PvP conditions, build protection or roleplay requirements.
  • Configure enforcement actions and review the warnings for missing contacts, unclear punishments or other publication gaps.
  • Generate the full policy, Discord-ready version or plain text, edit the result and copy, download or export the complete ZIP package.

Rules should make decisions predictable

A useful rule describes observable behavior, where it applies, and what happens next. Vague instructions such as “use common sense” are hard for players to follow and hard for staff to enforce consistently.

The generator creates an editable starting point. It is not legal advice, does not know local law, and cannot replace the official Hytale policies that also apply to server operators and players.

Rule sets that need explicit wording

  • Chat, voice, harassment, spam, and personal-information rules
  • Cheating, exploits, automation, unfair clients, and bug abuse
  • PvP, theft, griefing, claims, trading, and player agreements
  • Staff conduct, evidence handling, warnings, sanctions, and appeals
  • Event-specific rules and temporary competitive formats

Moderation-friendly writing

  • Use examples for rules that are often misunderstood.
  • Separate prohibited behavior from the possible consequence.
  • Define where appeals are submitted and what evidence is accepted.
  • Remove rules the team cannot monitor or apply consistently.
  • Publish a version date and announce meaningful changes.

Rules work when players can predict enforcement

Write rules around observable behavior instead of vague ideas such as “be good.” Explain what is prohibited, where the rule applies, and what a player should do when they need help or want to appeal.

Punishments should be proportional and consistently applied. Staff discretion may still be necessary, but hidden standards create confusion and make moderation harder to defend.

Review the draft with the staff team

Check that every rule can actually be monitored and enforced with the tools your server uses. Remove duplicate rules, contradictions, and promises the team cannot maintain.

Publish a version date and announce material changes. Keep an accessible copy outside the game so players can read the rules before joining and refer to the same text during an appeal.

Frequently asked questions

Does this create the same rules for every server?

No. The output changes with server type, audience, tone, strictness, selected policy areas, custom rules, enforcement actions and appeal settings.

Can I create separate player and staff versions?

The generator produces a complete policy, a shorter Discord-ready version and plain text. You can edit each output and download them together in a ZIP for review and publication.

Are the generated punishments automatically fair or legally binding?

No. The tool helps structure a moderation policy, but your team must review proportionality, local requirements, official Hytale policies and how enforcement will work in practice.

Can I update the rules later without confusing players?

Yes. Add a version and effective date, preserve the previous copy and announce meaningful changes. The generated policy includes versioning and appeal information when provided.

Should punishments be identical for every case?

Not necessarily. Severity, history, intent, impact, and evidence can matter, but the possible range and decision process should be documented so enforcement is not arbitrary.

How should appeals be described?

State where to appeal, the time limit, required information, who reviews it, and whether submitting an appeal pauses or changes the sanction.

Do official Hytale rules still apply?

Yes. Your community rules add local expectations but cannot override the current Hytale EULA, Community Guidelines, or Server Operator Policies.

How do I update rules without surprising players?

Publish a version date, summarize meaningful changes, announce when they take effect, preserve the previous version when useful, and give players a clear place to ask questions.
